Recap: Southern Alamance Patriots vs. Orange Panthers
The Southern Alamance Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 72-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of Orange. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Southern Alamance's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chris Epps, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Epps scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Moore, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Orange found their leader in underclassman Coleman Cloer, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds. Kai Wade was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five steals.
Southern Alamance's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Orange, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-7.
Southern Alamance won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Southeast Alamance at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th. Hopefully Southeast Alamance focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Wednesday. Orange will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Northwood at 3:30 p.m. on December 28th.
