Potomac Falls extends home winning streak to nine

Recap: Potomac Falls Panthers vs. Briar Woods Falcons

The Potomac Falls Panthers put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Briar Woods by a score of 61-49. Given Potomac Falls' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Briar Woods is ranked 209th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for David Marshall, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Johnny Opiola, who scored 11 points along with four steals and two blocks.

Despite the loss, Briar Woods saw an underclassman step up: Ryan Brzezanski dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Brzezanski has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Devon Pettibone, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.

Potomac Falls pushed their record up to 19-0 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home. As for Briar Woods, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-12.

Potomac Falls will be playing in front of their home fans against Stone Bridge at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Stone Bridge has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 467 points over their last seven matchups. As for Briar Woods, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Lightridge at 7:15 p.m. Briar Woods is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.6 points per game this season.
