Basketball Recap: Menomonie Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Menomonie can now relate to. They had to suffer through a 68-36 loss at the hands of the Rice Lake Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, with their most recent loss being a 72-61 defeat back in January.

Rice Lake found their leader in sophomore Addison Schmidt, who almost dropped a double-double with 22 points and nine rebounds. The matchup was Schmidt's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Adaline Sheplee, who shot 50% from the field on her way to 17 points along with seven boards and five assists.

Menomonie now has a losing record of 12-13. As for Rice Lake, they pushed their record up to 21-5 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home.

Menomonie does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rice Lake, they will square off against Lakeland at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Lakeland's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight games.
