Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for South Ripley

It's playoff time, and South Ripley had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 59-51 win over the Southwestern Rebels on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Raiders, who have now won four games in a row.

South Ripley was led to victory by Claire Samples and Kaiya Rinear. Samples dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten boards, while Rinear went 7-for-11 to rack up 21 points and eight rebounds. The contest was Rinear's fourth in a row with at least 17 points. Aubrey Werner was another key player, going 5-for-10 on her way to 12 points and three steals.

When it comes to explaining why Southwestern lost, don't look at Savannah Nussbaum. Despite the final result, she went 6-for-11 en route to 14 points and three steals. Nussbaum has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mikayla Nussbaum, who posted 13 points.

South Ripley's win bumped their record up to 14-9. As for Southwestern, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-9.

South Ripley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 43-29 loss against Brownstown Central on the 8th. Southwestern does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
