Recap: Elizabeth Seton vs. Montverde Academy Eagles

After a string of eight wins, Elizabeth Seton's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They lost to Montverde Academy on the road by a decisive 64-46 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Elizabeth Seton has scored all season.

When it comes to explaining why Elizabeth Seton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nadeya Regala. Despite the final result, she scored 11 points along with three steals. Makayla Johnson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.

It was another big night for Jaloni Cambridge, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 assists for Montverde Academy. Cambridge has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Vivian Iwuchukwu, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds.

Elizabeth Seton's loss dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Montverde Academy, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 16-1.

Elizabeth Seton will be playing in front of their home fans against Archbishop Carroll at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Archbishop Carroll is ranked eighth in District of Columbia, while Elizabeth Seton is ranked third in Maryland). Montverde Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Wesleyan at 2:00 p.m. on January 15th. One thing working in Wesleyan's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine contests.
