Softball Recap: Shepherd Has No Trouble Against Standish-Sterling

Shepherd lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Standish-Sterling, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's matchup. The Bluejays put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 9-2 win on Wednesday. The Bluejays might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Leela Engelhardt, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Lillian Loonsfoot was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs.

Shepherd has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Standish-Sterling, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-2 record.

Shepherd will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
