Football Game Preview: Arkoma Mustangs vs. Copan Hornets

The Arkoma Mustangs will venture away from home to take on the Copan Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Arkoma is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Friday. They lost 52-27 to Webbers Falls.

Arkoma might have lost, but man, Scout Smith was a machine: he picked up 82 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 43 yards and one score. Smith didn't just play on offense: he also made five total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended one pass in addition to snagging an interception. Keith Niles got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Copan came up short against Wilson-Henryetta on Friday, falling 62-36. The Hornets have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Copan's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-2. As for Arkoma, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Arkoma was taken down by Copan 46-0 when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
