George Walton Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Bulloch Academy by a score of 27-17.
George Walton Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aj Dillard led the charge by throwing for 167 yards and three touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes. Zack Wolf helped Dillard out on the ground, rushing for 90 yards and one score on only 11 carries.
Meanwhile, Stratford Academy strolled past Calvary Christian with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 37-21. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Eagles' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Knights are ranked 260th).
Stratford Academy found their leader in sophomore Tucker Johnston, who rushed for 56 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 83 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Josh Butts was Johnston's top target, picking up 15 receiving yards and one score, while also rushing for 53 yards.
Stratford Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 230 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 187 rushing yards in five consecutive matchups.
George Walton Academy's victory bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Stratford Academy, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. George Walton Academy has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 210.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Stratford Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 201.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
George Walton Academy took a serious blow against Stratford Academy when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 42-7. Thankfully for the Bulldogs, Keondre Glover (who rushed for 108 yards and three TDs on only seven carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
