Basketball Recap: New Mexico School for the Deaf Comes Up Short

New Mexico School for the Deaf lost against Des Moines back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The New Mexico School for the Deaf Roadrunners were beaten by the Des Moines Demons 58-10.

Des Moines was led to victory by Rylan Brown and Katy Ward. Brown went 7 for 15 en route to 14 points in addition to seven assists and six steals, while Ward almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine steals. Brown is becoming a predictor of Des Moines' success: when she posts at least three steals the team is 14-3 (and 1-3 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Ali Poling, who posted ten points and four steals.

New Mexico School for the Deaf's defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Des Moines, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Coming up, New Mexico School for the Deaf and Cimarron will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. New Mexico School for the Deaf is facing Cimarron at the right time seeing as Cimarron is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Des Moines, they will head out to challenge Primero at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Des Moines knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Primero likes a good challenge.
