Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Northwest Rankin walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the Brandon Bulldogs 3-2 on Thursday. The win was familiar territory for the Cougars, who have now won five matches in a row.

Bella Pierce tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, Sybil Glover was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Northwest Rankin's record now sits at 28-4. As for Brandon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 22-7 record this season.

Northwest Rankin will have a chance to go back-to-back against Brandon: the pair will be back at it again later today.
