Basketball Recap: Rustburg Takes a Loss

Rustburg lost to Liberty Christian back in February of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Red Devils took a blow against the Bulldogs, falling 75-25. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 230th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 26th).

Despite the loss, Rustburg still got an impressive performance from Samiyah Jackson, who posted 15 points.

Rustburg's loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-4. As for Liberty Christian, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rustburg will face off against William Campbell at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Liberty Christian, they will take on Amherst County at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' defense better be ready for this one: the Lancers have averaged an impressive 51.6 points per game this season.
