Basketball Recap: Darian Lewis Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Lakewood

Dakota Ridge hadn't done well against Lakewood recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Dakota Ridge Eagles had just enough and edged the Lakewood Tigers out 55-52. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Dakota Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Darian Lewis led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds. Those nine boards gave Lewis a new career-high. Addyson Meeker was another key player, going 5 for 12 on her way to 13 points and six rebounds.

Lakewood's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Iben Last, who went 6 of 14 en route to 15 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was DJ Parrish, who posted ten points and three steals.

The victory snapped Dakota Ridge's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-11 record. As for Lakewood, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Dakota Ridge will host Pomona at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: Dakota Ridge has lost three straight at home , while Pomona has lost seven on the road. As for Lakewood, they will venture away from home to square off against Ralston Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
