Volleyball Recap: Algonquin Regional Takes a Loss

If Algonquin Regional was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Hudson on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Titans fell 3-1 to the Grafton Gators on Friday. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gators apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2021.

While Algonquin Regional ultimately came up short, they really made Grafton work, particularly in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 26-24, 15-25, 25-17.

Tessa Novello paced Algonquin Regional's offense, picking up seven kills. Novello got some help from CarolAnn Smith and her eight assists. Novello was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

Algonquin Regional's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Grafton, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Algonquin Regional will take on Hopkinton at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Grafton, they are headed away from home for the first time to take on Blackstone Valley RVT at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
