Basketball Game Preview: O'Connor Panthers vs. Central Catholic Buttons

The O'Connor Panthers will venture away from home to square off against the Central Catholic Buttons at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. O'Connor is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

O'Connor is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Brennan on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. O'Connor had to suffer through a 72-43 loss at the hands of Brennan. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 297th, while the Bears are ranked second).

O'Connor's loss came about despite a quality game from Hagen Hurst, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds. Jackson Schulze was another key player, putting up nine points.

Meanwhile, Central Catholic ended up a good deal behind Madison last Tuesday and lost 61-47. The defeat continues a trend for the Buttons in their matchups with the Mavericks: they've now lost four in a row.

Central Catholic's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-4. As for O'Connor, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

O'Connor barely slipped by Central Catholic in their previous matchup back in November of 2015, winning 64-63. Does O'Connor have another victory up their sleeve, or will Central Catholic turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
