It's playoff time, and Emery had no trouble coming through when it counted. They won by a run and slipped past the Morgan Trojans 4-3. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Kallee Lake spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Katelyn Nielson was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Emery always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Morgan only posted an OBP of .300.
Emery's record now sits at 22-12. As for Morgan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-8.
Looking ahead, Emery will take on Grantsville at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Cowboys will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight. Morgan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
