Basketball Recap: Brunswick's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak on the Road

After flying high against Beach on Friday, Brunswick came back down to earth. The Brunswick Pirates fell just short of the Statesboro Blue Devils by a score of 53-50 on Saturday. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Blue Devils recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

It was another big night for Ja'Caiden Cone, who went 7 of 15 en route to 23 points and five steals for Statesboro. The team also got some help courtesy of Camdyn Wilkerson, who posted nine points and five boards.

Brunswick's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-2. As for Statesboro, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season.

Brunswick and Statesboro should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. Brunswick (ranked 33rd) will meet South Effingham (ranked 391st) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Brunswick is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road. Meanwhile, Statesboro will square off against Lakeside at 12:30 p.m. on Monday up 158 places (78 vs. 236). Brunswick is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.3 points per game this season.
