Softball Recap: Eastern Sets Scoring Season-High Against Glenwood

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eastern). They blew past the Glenwood Tigers 28-2 on Friday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Leah Rader made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and not a single walk). Rader was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-6 with three runs and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Eastern got a massive performance out of Madilen Day, who got on base in all six of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave Day a new career-high in hits (three). Braelyn Bevins was another key player, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.

Eastern was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .581. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Eastern's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Glenwood, their loss was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-13.

Looking ahead, Eastern will challenge Northwest at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Glenwood, they will face off against South Gallia at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Rebels have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.79 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
