Basketball Recap: Port St. Lucie Takes a Loss

Port St. Lucie lost against Tradition Prep back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Jaguars were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to the Pirates. The loss put an end to the Jaguars' undefeated start to the season.

When it comes to explaining why Port St. Lucie lost, don't look at Daniel Alexis. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 23 points and 14 boards. Another player making a difference was Bryan Desgrottes, who posted nine points.

Tradition Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aydan Fields led the charge by dropping a double-double with 11 points and 18 rebounds. Ethan Chevres was another key player, putting up 21 points and three blocks.

Having lost for the first time this season, Port St. Lucie fell to 2-1. As for Tradition Prep, the win (which was their sixth in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 3-0.

Looking ahead, Port St. Lucie will host Sebastian River at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup will give the Jaguars their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Tradition Prep, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Central at 6:00 p.m. on December 3.
