Softball Recap: Harvard-Westlake Comes Up Short

Harvard-Westlake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Providence Pioneers. The Wolverines were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pioneers earlier this season, when they won 12-7.

Harvard-Westlake's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Providence, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.

Harvard-Westlake has already played their next matchup, a 9-3 win against Verdugo Hills on the 18th. As for Providence, they will square off against Louisville at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Royals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.6 runs per game on average), something the Pioneers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
