Football Recap: Frederick Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Frederick can now relate to. They and the Marriotts Ridge Mustangs were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but they suffered a 36-35 defeat. The Cadets were up 35-17 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Frederick's loss came despite strong showings from Philip Bailey and Miles Robinson. Bailey gained 176 total yards and a touchdown, while Robinson rushed for 64 yards and one TD on only nine carries. Bailey really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. Cory Martin made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Frederick didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ronte Faunteroy and Martin. Martin got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Frederick's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-6. As for Marriotts Ridge, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-4.

Frederick does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Marriotts Ridge, they will square off against Urbana on Friday.
