Softball Recap: Crawfordsville Gets the Win

Crawfordsville made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Fountain Central, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Athenians put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 19-9 win on Saturday. With that victory, the Athenians brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Celeste Moore and Christina Susdorf did most of the damage at the plate: Moore went 2-for-4 with four runs and four RBI, while Susdorf scored four runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Those four runs gave Susdorf a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sabella Moore, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Crawfordsville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fountain Central only managed seven hits.

Crawfordsville's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Fountain Central, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crawfordsville will square off against Danville at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fountain Central, they will welcome South Vermillion at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
