Volleyball Recap: Phelps Takes a Loss

If Phelps was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Hurley on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hornets lost 3-0 to the Pike County Central Hawks on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 last Monday.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-19, 25-15.

Phelps' offense was headlined by Aerionna Pigman and Charity Mounts, who picked up seven kills apiece. They got some help from Cloey Bevins and her 16 assists. Finally, Mounts was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high nine blocks.

Phelps' defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Pike County Central, the win got them back to even at 10-10.

Coming up, Phelps will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Tug Valley at 6:00 p.m. As for Pike County Central, they will venture away from home to face off against Jenkins at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
