Baseball Game Preview: South Elgin Storm vs. Elgin Maroons

For the second straight game, South Elgin will face off against Elgin. The Storm will square off against the Maroons at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Elgin has three straight wins, Elgin has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

South Elgin is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Elgin 25-2 on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Storm with their most commanding win of the season.

Justin Pold made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, South Elgin got a massive performance out of Jacob Robertson, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave Robertson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ethan Tufetedal, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.

South Elgin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .735. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

South Elgin's record now sits at 5-9. As for Elgin, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
