Baseball Game Preview: Mynderse Academy Blue Devils vs. Wayne Eagles

The Mynderse Academy Blue Devils will head out to challenge the Wayne Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Mynderse Academy has given up an average of 9.9 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mynderse Academy came up short against Geneva on Saturday, falling 16-5.

Mynderse Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Mahoney, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Conley Markel also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Wayne's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Midlakes by a score of 6-5.

Caleb Celso was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Mynderse Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Wayne, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-2.

Mynderse Academy suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to Wayne in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
