Softball Recap: West Campus Wins Going Away Against Florin

West Campus won the last time they faced Florin and things went their way on Monday too. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Panthers. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won six matchups by 12 runs or more so far this season.

Mallory Turk made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Turk was also solid in the batter's box, earning one run and two stolen bases. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Moriah Williams was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Quiroz, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs.

West Campus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .778. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win made it two in a row for West Campus and bumps their season record up to 8-5. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Valley and 3-8 Florin. As for Florin, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Campus will welcome Johnson at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Campus' pitchers better be ready for this one: Johnson has averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season. As for Florin, they will be playing at home against Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
