Softball Game Preview: Alden-Hebron Green Giants vs. Hiawatha Hawks

Alden-Hebron is on a seven-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Hiawatha a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Alden-Hebron Green Giants will look to defend their home field against the Hiawatha Hawks at 4:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Alden-Hebron couldn't beat Harvest Christian Academy on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fourth inning. The Green Giants lost 22-4 to the Lions.

Meanwhile, Hiawatha scored the most runs they've had this season on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough. They came up short against Forreston, falling 19-4. That's two games in a row now that the Hawks have lost by exactly 15 runs.

Hiawatha saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brielle Molloy, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That run marked the first that Molloy has scored this season. Nelly Delvalle was another, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Hiawatha's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Alden-Hebron, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Alden-Hebron suffered a grim 20-4 defeat to Hiawatha in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Green Giants avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
