Softball Game Preview: Birch Run Panthers vs. Chesaning Indians

Birch Run has gone a perfect 3-0 against Chesaning recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Panthers will challenge the Indians at 4:00 p.m.

Birch Run is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 18 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Frankenmuth on Friday. They lost 10-0 to the Eagles. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost eight in a row.

Meanwhile, Chesaning hadn't done well against Hill-McCloy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Indians were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over the Rams. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Indians.

Chesaning's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Birch Run, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Everything went Birch Run's way against Chesaning when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Birch Run made off with a 6-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
