Recap: Clear Creek Golddiggers vs. Union Colony Prep Timberwolves
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, a fact the Clear Creek Golddiggers proved on Thursday. They came out on top against Union Colony Prep by a score of 58-47. Clear Creek pushed the score to 43-22 by the end of the third, a deficit Union Colony Prep cut but never quite recovered from.
Tyler O'Brien continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 13 steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Hendrickson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Several Timberwolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jesiah Chairez, who scored 13 points along with seven steals and five assists. Another player making a difference was Josiah Rodriguez, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
The win got Clear Creek back to even at 9-9. As for Union Colony Prep, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clear Creek will face off against Front Range Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Union Colony Prep, they will head out on the road to square off against Denver Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
