Soccer Recap: Cox Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Cox can now relate to. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Hickory Hawks who were credited with the win on Monday. The Hickory Hawks got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to the Cox Falcons' four. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Hickory this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 back in March.

Cox's goal came courtesy of Ryan Piccola, who's now up to five this season.

Cox's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3-5. As for Hickory, they pushed their record up to 15-4-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home.

Cox does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hickory, they will square off against Kellam at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Kellam's defense has only allowed 0.5 goals per game this season, so Hickory's offense will have their work cut out for them.
