Basketball Recap: Lampasas Takes a Loss

Lampasas lost against Jarrell back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Lampasas Badgers lost to the Jarrell Cougars at home by a 53-39 margin. While losing is never fun, the Badgers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 801st, while the Cougars are ranked 282nd).

Jarrell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aniya Taylor led the charge by putting up 19 points and eight rebounds. Taylor's evening made it 11 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Erica Taylor, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards.

Lampasas' defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-14. As for Jarrell, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-5.

Lampasas didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 57-39 loss against Salado on the 14th. As for Jarrell, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 46-43 defeat against Burnet on the 14th.
