Softball Game Preview: Angleton Wildcats vs. Friendswood Mustangs

The Angleton Wildcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Friendswood Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Angleton fell victim to La Porte and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. The Wildcats' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Bella Nava was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Friendswood unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 5-1 to Santa Fe. The game marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Friendswood's loss dropped their record down to 22-3. As for Angleton, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-3.

Angleton skirted past Friendswood 5-4 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
