Football Recap: Taevion Gibson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mcnair over Ceres

McNair's game on Friday was all tied up 8-8 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 28-22 to the Ceres Bulldogs. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bulldogs 8-0 in the first quarter.

McNair's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taevion Gibson, who picked up 83 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 68 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Corey Waters, who picked up 125 receiving yards and one score.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ceres to victory, but perhaps none more so than Adrian Huesca, who rushed for 72 yards and one TD. Alex Alvarez was in the mix as well, providing the Bulldogs with two touchdowns.

McNair now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Ceres, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McNair will venture away from home to face off against Tokay at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Eagles their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Ceres, they will head out on the road to challenge Buhach Colony at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
