Preview: McAllen Bulldogs vs. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial Wolverines
McAllen has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. McAllen will be strutting in after a victory while Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial will be coming in after a loss.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, McAllen beat Pioneer 50-46.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Rowe, falling 58-29. While losing is never fun, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1113th, while Rowe is ranked 500th).
McAllen has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost ten of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-15 record this season.
McAllen beat Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial 50-41 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for McAllen since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
