Queen Creek waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with 12 straight wins... but they left with 13. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Desert Ridge Jaguars. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since March 21st.

Alexis Mendez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Queen Creek saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tayla Falquez, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Queen Creek's win was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Desert Ridge, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Queen Creek will face off against Boulder Creek at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Desert Ridge, they will square off against Apollo at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Jaguars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
