Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Webster County

There's no place like home for Webster County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Greater Beckley Christian Crusaders on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Highlanders: when they faced off against the Crusaders on Thursday, they had to take a 9-7 defeat.

Maddox Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ryder Miller was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Logan Brown, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Webster County pushed their record up to 12-13 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Greater Beckley Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 16-11.

As of now, neither Webster County nor the Crusaders have any future games scheduled.
