Basketball Game Preview: Fairland Owls vs. Nowata Ironmen

After both having extra time off, the Fairland Owls and the Nowata Ironmen will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fairland is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games.

Two weeks ago, Fairland didn't have too much trouble with Miami as they won 56-40. Given the Owls' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Wardogs are ranked 250th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Nowata). They were the clear victor by a 70-48 margin over Commerce last Friday. While the Ironmen didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Fairland's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Nowata, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Fairland took their win against Nowata when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 76-54. Does Fairland have another victory up their sleeve, or will Nowata turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
