Preview: Winfield Vikings vs. Rose Hill Rockets
The Winfield Vikings will take on the Rose Hill Rockets at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Winfield is ranked 300th, while Rose Hill is ranked 291st).
Winfield's seven-game losing streak came to an end last Tuesday. They walked away with a 29-22 victory over Collegiate. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Winfield has managed all season.
Rose Hill suffered their biggest loss since December 5, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Andale 50-23. Rose Hill has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
They used a three-pronged attack on offense:
Cheyenne Martin,
Kaelyn Kirchhoff, and
Ella Swearingen posted six points each.
Blythe Hackney held things down on the boards with six rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Winfield's victory bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Rose Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
Winfield was able to grind out a solid victory over Rose Hill in their previous matchup back in January of 2022, winning 33-23. The rematch might be a little tougher for Winfield since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
