Softball Recap: Lopez's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak at Home

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Lopez can now relate to. They came up short against the Carroll Tigers on Thursday, falling 7-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 back in February.

Jenny Shank spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

Lopez's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-11. As for Carroll, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 27-4.

While Lopez had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
