Baseball Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

Liberty extended their losing streak to seven on Monday, dropping their season record down to 5-16 in the process. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Glencoe Crimson Tide. Falcons fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Crimson Tide since on Monday.

As for Glencoe, they moved to 8-13 with that victory, which also ended their nine-game losing streak. The game was the first time they have beaten Liberty on their field since May 7, 2019.

For Glencoe's part, Liberty's batters probably weren't too happy with August Ware, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 18 Ks (he gave up two walks). Ware is becoming a predictor of the Crimson Tide's success: when he posts at least ten strikeouts the team is 2-1 (and 6-12 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Camden Roofener, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Corbin McCabe, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

While Liberty had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
