Ardsley hasn't had much luck against Albertus Magnus recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Falcons at 4:30 p.m. Ardsley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Ardsley took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Hendrick Hudson by a score of 7-4.
Will Liu made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Steven Degree, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Jesse Jaeger was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Clarkstown South hit Albertus Magnus with a nine-run seventh inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Falcons came up short against the Vikings, falling 11-2.
Albertus Magnus saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Wein, who went 1-for-3 with one triple.
Ardsley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Albertus Magnus, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
Albertus Magnus' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Ardsley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .345. It's a different story for Albertus Magnus, though, as they've only averaged .223. Will they be able to contain Ardsley's hitters?
Ardsley might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from Albertus Magnus in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
