Basketball Game Preview: Pine Plains Bombers vs. Onteora Eagles

Pine Plains is 0-5 against Onteora since February of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Pine Plains Bombers will welcome the Onteora Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Pine Plains was able to grind out a solid win over Highland, taking the game 68-57. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bombers.

Meanwhile, Onteora waltzed into their game on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 44-21 victory. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 340th, while the Hawks are ranked 682nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Onteora pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 19.2 points over those games. As for Pine Plains, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.

Pine Plains ended up a good deal behind Onteora in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, losing 52-37. Can Pine Plains avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
