Baseball Recap: Wayne Valley Drops Highest Score of Season Against Pascack Hills

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wayne Valley). Everything went their way against the Pascack Hills Broncos on Saturday as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Indians considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Nick Erminio looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has become a key player for Wayne Valley: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-3 otherwise.

At the plate, Nick Cavagnaro was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Christian Varano, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Wayne Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Wayne Valley pushed their record up to 3-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pascack Hills, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wayne Valley will host Wayne Hills at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Pascack Hills, they will be playing at home against Mahwah at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Thunderbirds will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
