Baseball Recap: Taylor's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Taylor won the last time they faced Crescent City and things went their way on Thursday too. The Taylor Wildcats came out on top against the Crescent City Raiders by a score of 5-1. The game was the first time the Wildcats have beaten the Raiders on their field since April 15, 2022.

Drew Moyer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Connor Puckett, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-2. He has become a key player for Taylor: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-5 otherwise. Jackson Harcus also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Taylor's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-5. As for Crescent City, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Taylor will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Warner Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on March 24th. As for Crescent City, they will face off against Lake Weir at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake Weir has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.77 runs per game on average), something Crescent City will no doubt try to take advantage of.
