Volleyball Recap: Celebration Storm vs. Academy of Central Florida National Golden Bulls

The Celebration Storm came up short against the Academy of Central Florida National Golden Bulls on Wednesday and fell 3-1. The Storm have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Celebration had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-19, 21-25, 25-20.

Daniel Santiago paced Celebration's offense, picking up 24 kills. Santiago got some help from Oliver Binet and his 42 assists. Finally, William Castillo and Marius Petrikas kept the team grounded on defense, each having blocked four attacks.

Academy of Central Florida National found their leader in sophomore Samuel Ortega, who had 20 digs and four aces. Ortega is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 17 or more in each of the last four games he's played.

The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 4-3. As for Academy of Central Florida National, they pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coincidentally, Celebration and Academy of Central Florida National will both be playing Ridge Community the next time they take the court. Celebration will host Ridge Community at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Academy of Central Florida National will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
