Maryvale has won five straight games at home, while Amherst Central has won five straight on the road dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Flyers will host the Tigers at 11:00 a.m. Maryvale is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
Maryvale barely beat Akron the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Flyers put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 11-1 win on Thursday. The Flyers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by six runs or more this season.
Jaxsyn Moritz made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Luke Altieri was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jacob Kuciel, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Maryvale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Akron only posted an OBP of .318.
Meanwhile, Amherst Central was not the first on the board on Thursday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Kenmore West by a score of 6-2. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Maryvale's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Amherst Central, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Maryvale came up short against Amherst Central when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 12-9. Can the Flyers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
