The Diamond Bar Brahmas will face off against the Schurr Spartans at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Diamond Bar's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Schurr's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Diamond Bar turned things around against Valencia on Monday. They blew past the Tigers 7-1. The Brahmas not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 27th (when they won 6-0).
The team relied heavily on Sebastian Roseli, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Diamond Bar kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Schurr sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Bell Gardens on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Spartans have posted against the Lancers since April 25, 2024.
Schurr also got a great performance from Joey Amano as he pitched 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Amano is becoming a predictor of the Spartans' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 4-2 (and 6-14 when he doesn't).
At the plate, Javon Bryant was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Joshua Talavera was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Diamond Bar now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Schurr, their record now sits at 10-16.
Diamond Bar was able to grind out a solid victory over Schurr in their previous meeting back in April of 2016, winning 8-3. Will the Brahmas repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
