Softball Recap: Westwood Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Westwood came tearing into Monday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Whitman-Hanson Regional Panthers as they made off with a 10-3 victory. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

Bridget Mulkeen spent all seven innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Izzy Walsh, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Mia Poles, who went 2-for-3 with three runs.

Westwood hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matches.

Westwood's win bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Whitman-Hanson Regional, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.

As of now, neither Westwood nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
