Softball Recap: Rantoul Eagles vs. Prairie Central Hawks
Rantoul had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 5-9 to make it four. They lost 9-1 to the Prairie Central Hawks. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 7-2 to the Hawks when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Prairie Central, the win got them back to even at 10-10. Considering they have won six matches by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
For Prairie Central's part, the team relied heavily on Sam Slagel, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Slagel has posted over her last 12 games. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Galloway, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rantoul will welcome St. Thomas More at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles are facing the Sabers at the right time seeing as the Sabers are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Prairie Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dwight at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
