Recap: SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars vs. Southeast Halifax Trojans
The SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Southeast Halifax 79-11 at home. That 79-11 margin sets a new team best for SouthWest Edgecombe this season.
SouthWest Edgecombe's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aaliyah Whitehead, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. That's the first time this season that Whitehead pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Timira Mayo, who scored 16 points along with three steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Southeast Halifax struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as SouthWest Edgecombe racked up 16 assists.
The win (which was SouthWest Edgecombe's third in a row) raised their record to 6-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Southeast Halifax, they bumped their record down to 1-7 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
