Baseball Recap: Asheboro Comes Up Short

Asheboro had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 13-12 to make it four. They lost 9-3 to the Northern Guilford Nighthawks. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Nighthawks this season, with their most recent loss being a 7-0 defeat back in March.

Asheboro saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Jaimes, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

As for Northern Guilford, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-11. The result was nothing new for the Nighthawks, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

On Northern Guilford's side, Brayden Durham made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over 6.2 innings pitched. Durham has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Will Porter was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Nathanael Lorczak was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

As of now, neither Asheboro nor Northern Guilford have any future games scheduled.
